M12 155mm Artillery Battery (Late War x4 Tanks)
The M12 artillery carriage was a heavy self-propelled artillery vehicle used by the United States during World War II. It was built on the chassis of a M3 Lee tank and was armed with a 155 mm M1917 or M1918 howitzer.
The M12 had a crew of nine, including a driver, gunner, and seven additional crew members who helped with ammunition handling, communications, and other duties. The vehicle was heavily armored to protect the crew and the howitzer from enemy fire.
The howitzer itself was mounted on a large, open-topped turret that could traverse 360 degrees and elevate to an angle of 65 degrees. This allowed the M12 to fire at targets at long ranges with a high degree of accuracy. The M12 had a range of approximately 10 miles and could fire up to six rounds per minute.
The M12 was used extensively by the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II, where it proved to be an effective weapon against German fortifications and other hardened targets. However, it was also vulnerable to enemy artillery and air attacks, and several were destroyed in combat.
Overall, the M12 was a powerful and effective artillery carriage that played an important role in the Allied victory in World War II.
