Oberschutze is a German military rank used in the infantry branch of the German Reichswehr in 1920 and continued to be used in its successor the German Wehrmacht until 1945. The rank was used to give recognition and rank promotion to those soldiers who had achieved an above average aptitude and proficiency but did not qualify for promotion to the Gefreiter.
