In the days before the coming of Smaug the Terrible, Erebor was the greatest dwarf kingdom in Middle-earth, for Erebor was the Stronghold of Thror, the mightiest of the Dwarf Lords and King Under the Mountain. The wealth of the mountain came from the gems hewn from it's rock and the seams of gold that ran like veins through it's stone. Trained from an early age, the warriors of Erebor were the main bulk of Thror's army. Each was of Exceptional skill and accustomed to the ways of war.
